HONOKA‘A 92 – KA‘U 57
Honoka‘a High’s boys varsity basketball team crushed home standing Ka‘u High on Saturday afternoon in Pahala.
This was the Dragons’ second straight win, as they moved to a 4-1 BIIF play record. Honoka‘a and Kohala High will meet for the first time since last year’s BIIF DII championship, and battle for the top BIIF DII standing on Wednesday night in Honoka‘a.
Saturday was the Trojans’ third consecutive loss, dropping them to a 1-5 record. Ka‘u will look to stop its skid before too late with its next matchup — against Kea‘au High (1-6) at 6 p.m. on Thursday in Puna.

KS-HAWAI‘I 68 – PARKER 15
The Kamehameha Schools – Hawai‘i girls varsity basketball team dismantled Parker School 68-15 on Saturday in Kea‘au.
Keanu Huihui put up 19 points during the first quarter, leading the Warriors to a 27-0 opening frame and scoring 32 points total on the outing.
KSH outscored the Bulls 19-5 during the second quarter and 17-2 in the third.
Maela Honma also scored 16 points for the Warriors, followed by teammate Kacie Febo-Santiago with 11 points. Febo-Santiago went three-for-six at the free throw line.
Adalyn Ballard led Parker with eight points and sank two of three free throw attempts.
The Bulls were KSH’s latest victory in a six-game winning streak. The Warriors firmly control the No. 1 standing in BIIF DII.
Following a Monday night matchup against undefeated DI juggernaut Konawaena High (results will be published Wednesday), the Warriors will play away Jan. 15 at Hawaii Prep (2-2). Parker’s next outing will also be against Ka Makani, on Thursday evening at Castle Gym.

KONAWAENA 55 – ST. JOSEPH 15
Konawaena High’s boys varsity basketball team handled St. Joseph School 55-13 on Saturday night in Kealakekua.
The Wildcats were led by Abraham Ogata and Riley Asakura with 13 points each.
Amari Wiedemeier led the Cardinals with seven points.
St. Joseph fell to 0-7, standing in the cellar of BIIF DII behind No. 6 Christian Liberty Academy (0-3). With only five games remaining, the Cardinals’ next chance to get in the win column will be Jan. 16 — when SJS will host Honoka‘a High at the UH-Hilo Gymnasium.
The win over St. Jo brought Konawaena back to .500 at 4-4. Next, the Wildcats will travel across the isle on Wednesday for a road test at Waiakea High (3-3) in BIIF DI action.

KOHALA 53 – KEA‘AU 20
Kohala High’s boys varsity basketball team defended its home turf, routing Kea‘au High 53-20 on Saturday evening in Kapa‘au.
After taking a small, 8-2 lead by the end of the first quarter, the Cowboys galloped away in the second quarter — outscoring the Cougars 19-6.
Kohala continued building its lead, outscoring Kea‘au again 15-9 in the third quarter and 11-3 in the final frame.
Dillon Oandasan and Jayden Hook led the Cowboys, each scoring 14 points. Teammate Isaac Libron scored 11.
Thayne Nakoa led Kea‘au with nine points.
Kohala moved to 5-0 in BIIF play and 10-2 overall. The Cowboys’ next matchup will be Wednesday at Honoka‘a.
Falling to 1-6 with their second straight loss, the Cougars will look to improve their record with Thursday’s homestand against Ka‘u.
